Like mother, like daughter!

I just had to capture this moment this afternoon as we cuddled up with milo and a movie after school. Here's jaimee, totally gripped by an action moment in the movie "national treasure"....and Kate is so involved in her novel that she doesn't even glance at the screen!

I adore reading, and I have several photos where my parents have snapped me reading: in bed, on the driveway edge, on the tramp....my Kate has definitely got this one from me!

But then I also love a good movie, and am delighted to be able to share that with jaimee, who prefers "real" movies to animation now.

I sense Many a curled up couch moment with both my girls this winter, enjoying both their hobbies with them.

Birthday boys

It's the boys month in our home, with birthdays just days apart. Despite doing a 40 hour technology famine, Marty still got a pretty cool birthday! He got real phone calls cause there was no texting allowed, and we spent the day busy..he spent 3 hours building Thomas tracks with Luke thanks to the new pieces he got for his birthday which really amused me! He got out for a nice long bike ride while I took the kids to a party, then his sister visited and got our undivided attention (no tech!)
Luckily we had the Winters family over for dinner, so AnneMarie was able to snap a photo on HER phone for us! Giggle of the evening goes to fellow birthday boy Geremy, who showed up in his PJs and gown, just cause he could and why
 not?!

We played card games until midnight - going all the way up and down the river...and the kids played games too before a big giant slumber party since there was no movies on in our house. Lots of fun.

And then it was Luke's turn just a few days later. Sadly mummy was away at a conference, but he was well looked after and had a great day. He had a party welcome at daycare, with cupcakes and lollipops for everyone. And the special treat was that Mr Ross picked him up from daycare in full police uniform and drove him to the girls school in the police car!!!
It caused quite a stir at both ends - one kid had been told by his mummy the day before that the police would take him away if he kept being naughty...so when Ross walked into daycare he burst into tears!!!! Mr Ross says it's sad when parents do that, it teaches children to associate police with bad things.
And at the school, the teachers thought Luke had been found lost somewhere!!

Later they all went to Granny's for dinner, even Granma came, where they had a special dinner with a balloon and special named seat, a yummy dinner ("I had no veggies mum, just hot chips and lasagne") and cake of course. What a special day.

And then today we had the big party at Bounce, with lots of lukes friends there and an amazing cake made by his Godmother VickiLee. Coolest ever!!!
Jaimee and Luke loved rolling in the Zorb balls!
Luke and his "best buddies" Ben and Carter.
....Happy birthday to my boys!!!
