Luke has had a horrid cold and a vomiting bug over the last few days, and although the vomiting has stopped, Luke still refuses to eat much at all. As he turned his face away from his dinner with a grimace for the third time, Marty decided to give up and eat his own dinner. He plopped the bowl down on Luke's highchair and told him "you do it then". Well, I wish I had had the video camera going! Luke looked down at the bowl in total baffled amazement, looked up at Marty, then looked back down at the bowl. After glancing around the table at his watching family, he solemnly popped his thumb in his mouth and sat there for a moment.
Marty encouraged him to give it a go, putting the spoon in his hand. Luke thought this was very strange indeed. Check out the look on his face as he tries first one hand, then the other, to deal with this funny tool. He poked the spoon in the bowl a few times and nothing happened. I guess this "feeding self" thing is harder then it looks eh Luke!
Although it was normally empty before getting to his mouth - he definitely knew where to put the spoon, so that is a great start! I was silently applauding the fact that he hadn't put one hand into his bowl yet since he was fresh out of the bath. Then Marty pointed out that when he did get some food appearing on his spoon, he would pick it off the spoon and pop it in his mouth with his fingers! Ah well.

Oh, and his is not picking food OUT of his bowl in this photo - but picking up the food that had fallen off his spoon onto the tray and putting the food back INTO the bowl. What a tidy boy! Not a bad effort for a first attempt - and it certainly kept a grumpy sick boy quiet while the rest of us ate!
I love this story Nikki, i would have done the same thing as i have little patience. I remember doing this with my kids when they were younger. The pics are neat, love the concentration one hes so cute!:-)
