Tonight we continued our christmas celebrations by attending carols in the park. Carols in the park has become a tradition in our family, as our church has always hosted this event in the past. This year, our church decided not to put on this event, so we decided to join the Hastings carols at Cornwall Park instead.
Armed with homemade Bacon & Egg pie and a yummy salad, we made our way there and set up camp. The girls were delighted to use the chairs "give me a drink to go in the cup holder mum!" and Luke was just happy to have a continuous supply of food.
We waved over our friends when we saw them coming, and soon made up a hearty little party! The Dempsey family, the Fox family, the Boult family and Marty's parents all sat with us to join the fun. The girls stuck with us for the first few songs, but the host soon called all the kiddies up to dance and once Kate finally convinced a shyer Jaimee to go forward and dance, they were lost to us from that moment. "Mummy, he told everyone to applause for US dancers" boasted a proud Jaimee at the end of the night.
Luke wasn't to be left out of the fun - first sitting on daddy's lap "praising God" with outstretched hands to Silent Night, and then later joining his sisters for a boogie.

After many years of fantastic carols, I was a bit disappointed at this event. We were told carols were from 6pm until 8.30pm in advertising, but they didn't start until well after 7pm....and then were all over by 8pm (and some of the songs on our song sheet were completely missed out!). Ah well, the kids had a great time anyway...I guess that is what matters. And at the end of the night, we had a final treat: The "world famous in Hastings" Santa drove past us on his 'sleigh', waving to our spellbound children.
