Pre-Christmas Card Night

Last night we got together with some of our oldest and dearest friends for dessert and a game of cards.  There are so many things I love about the Dempseys and the Winters.  Both Geremy and Jeremy were groomsmen at our wedding, being Marty's mates from way back, and the six of us are firm friends.  I thank God that us wives get along so great so that our men can really continue in their friendship so easily.  We all get together not often enough, but it is easy and natural every time we do.
Some of the things I love about my friends that were confirmed last night:

1.  Our kids all love each other.  Pretty much cousins really - they get together with big hugs and jumps of delight, and we don't see them again (until we have attempted to put them to bed, in which case we see them every 2 minutes for the next hour).

2.  We all love good food.  Check out that rolled Pavlova!  Clever Vicki-Lee!
 3.  We can go from chatting about meaningless silly rubbish to chatting about Christian parenting in the same breath, and then back again just as quickly.  All night.
4.  We all love to play cards.  Granted, it can get a bit intense - there were some giggling but heated discussions about the rules through the evening, but we all just have such a great time.
5.   We are all slightly nutters.  The evening included rousing chorus' of the sesame street theme song and what should we do with the drunken sailor...and more.
6.  We can forget time when we are all together.  It was after 11pm when we even noticed the time!

Thanks friends, we love you.   ....And next time, the girls are going to take the tie breaker round!

Just a little intense game of Sequence....

  1. yay for comfortable friends, especially for the guys- it's harder for them I think to find friends they can completely be themselves with so what you have with these two couples is very precious. You look happy too Nikki (and not a polkadot in sight! (wink!)
